Scott Woodard will enter his fifth season on the Texas State coaching staff headed into the 2026 season. He primarily works on the Bobcats staff as a fielding coach.
Since joining the program, Woodard has been part of the Bobcats 2024 Sun Belt Tournament and 2025 Regular Season titles. He was part of the 2024 NCAA Division I South Region Coaching Staff of the Year award that the Bobcats won following their Sun Belt title and second-consecutive NCAA tournament berth.
Woodard came to San Marcos after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach on the University of Alabama – Birmingham (UAB) staff, where he worked primarily with hitting and recruiting duties.
Woodard also spent five seasons (2013-17) in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) as an assistant coach at Auburn University, where he helped accumulate four 40-plus win seasons and back-to-back Women's College World Series appearances including making the WCWS Finals in 2016. While in Auburn, Woodard helped develop 13 All-SEC performers, including the 2016 SEC Player of the Year and two-time first team All-American Kasey Cooper.
Prior to his time at Auburn, Woodard was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Arizona State (2011-13). While at ASU, Woodard helped the Sun Devils to back-to-back WCWS appearances in 2012 and 2013 along with accumulating over 50 wins each season.
Woodard made the jump to Arizona State after spending 15 years as the Director of Athletics and head softball coach at him alma mater Western New Mexico University. He also served as WNM head baseball coach until the program was cut in 1993 and assistant football coach from 1992-96.
Woodard played shortstop for the Mustangs en route to being named a two-time Rocky Mountain Athletic All-Conference selection. He was inducted into the Western New Mexico Athletic Hall of Fame in September of 2017.
