Wieligman, a Stillwater, Okla., native, comes to San Marcos after spending the 2020-21 year as part of the UT Tyler softball staff that finished the season 33-7, including a 27-3 mark in the Lonestar Conference. Wieligman, serving as an assistant coach of the Patriots' staff, was a member of the 2021 Division II South Central Regional Coaching Staff of the Year following UT Tyler's success.Â
Last season, UT Tyler rose to as high as No. 2 in the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll and maintaining at least a top 10 ranking in every poll the Patriots have been eligible for at the Division II level since the beginning of the 2020 season.Â
Prior to his stop in Tyler, Texas, Wieligman was a member of the 2019 Henderson State (Ark.) University baseball team after transferring from Cowley County (Kan.) Community College, where he helped the Tigers to a Junior College World Series berth.Â
