Kelly Kretschman, a four-time NFCA All-American and two-time Olympic medalist, is in her first season with the Bobcats after being hired in the fall of 2014. Kretschman's responsibilities include recruiting for the Bobcats in addition to coaching the outfielders and training the hitters.

Kretschman comes to Texas State with nine years of professional softball experience under her belt, playing for the 2014 NPF Champion USSSA Pride for the last six. In all, Kretschman has been with five NPF Championship teams in nine seasons including the 2005 Akron Racers, the 2007 Washington Glory, and the 2010, 2013, and 2014 USSSA Pride.

Coming into the 2014 season, Kretschman had a career batting average of .330 with 161 runs scored, 143 RBI, 49 doubles, 25 home runs, and 190 walks.

In addition to her professional playing experience, Kretschman has been a member of Team USA who won the gold medal in 2004 and silver medal in 2008. As a starter for Team USA in right field, Kretschman was the only batter for any country to hit for the cycle, hitting at least one single, double, triple, and home run over the course of the 2004 Olympics. Her .333 batting average was eighth best in the summer games and her .714 slugging percentage ranked third among all hitters at the 2004 games.

Prior to her professional career, Kretschman was a four-time NFCA All-American with the Alabama Crimson Tide. She was the first four-time NFCA All-American in program history at Alabama and she also led the Crimson Tide to its first Women's College World Series appearance in 2000.

During her freshman season at Alabama, Kretschman led the NCAA with 25 home runs which also still stands as the Alabama record for most home runs in a season. Her career totals at Alabama include a .437 batting average, 368 hits, 288 runs, 60 home runs, 16 triples, 65 doubles, and a slugging percentage of .766. She continues to own the Alabama and SEC record for a hitting streak of 35 games.
Also while at Alabama, Kretschman was a three-time First-Team All-SEC selection and was nominated for the Honda Award, an award that is given to the best collegiate female athlete in each of twelve sports.
