Alex Dean is in her first year with the Texas State softball team as a volunteer assistant coach. Dean, a former Bobcat, was one of the best shortstops in the Southland Conference during her career.
Dean ended her collegiate career as the 2009 Southland Conference Softball Player of the Year and a NFCA All-Central Region First Team pick. In Dean’s senior year she helped lead Texas State to a Southland Conference Regular Season and Tournament Title, along with an NCAA Regional appearance.
She finished her time at Texas State having started every game of her career. A two-time All-SLC pick, she capped her career as the league leader in hits (62) and third in batting average (.332). She led Texas State in total bases with 96 and at-bats with 187. She finished her career in the Top 10 of the Texas State all-time batting average (.293), at-bats (669), runs scored (106), hits (195), doubles (41), triples (7), home runs (14), RBI's (87), total bases (292), stolen bases (37)and base on balls (55).
After completing college ball, Dean signed with the Philadelphia Force of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league where she played for one year, before returning to finish her education.
Dean graduated from Texas State in 2010 with a degree in education. She resides in San Marcos with her husband Ben.
