Adam Hudson enters his seventh season with the Bobcats track and field program. Hudson coaches the men’s and women’s combined events and jumps as well as serving as recruiting coordinator for the program.
Hudson started his career with the Bobcats in 2002 as the head men’s cross country coach. In 2003, he took a position at San Marcos Academy as the head track and cross country coach. During his two year stint at SMA, Hudson taught physics and coached state champions in both the 100-meters and the triple jump.
Hudson attended Texas State and was a four-year letterwinner for the Bobcats, serving as team captain during both the 2001 and 2002 seasons. He was also the president of FCA. As a Bobcat, he earned seven All-Southland Conference honors and set Texas State records in both the 400 meter hurdles and the sprint medley relay. Hudson finished his tenure with the Bobcats ranked 19th in NCAA Division I in the 400-meter hurdles.
Hudson is a Level II USA Track and Field coach in the jumps and combined events, as well as an instructor for Level I USATF coaches’ education.
At Texas State, he has coached 15 athletes to Southland Conference Championships first place finishes, four Southland Conference Athletes of the Year honorees and three Texas State record holders in the combined events. Under Hudson’s leadership, Valerie Hancock set the school record for the heptathlon by 49 points in 2009. That season, Hudson coached both Hancock and Katie Evans who both qualified for the NCAA Division I National Championships in the high jump.
A 2002 graduate of Texas State, Hudson received a degree in chemistry and mathematics. He later added a master’s degree in sports administration.
As a volunteer of Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Hudson and his wife Eloise advocate for children who have been removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse.
