Ojai Black is in his second season as the team operations coordinator for Texas State men’s basketball. The previous two years saw him serve as the program's graduate assistant coach. Black is a former Bobcat student-athlete who played with the team in 2014-2017. 
 
In the first season on staff, the Bobcats won the 2020-21 Sun Belt Conference regular-season Championship behind an 18-7 overall record, including a 12-3 Sun Belt Conference mark. The conference title was the first since joining the Sun Belt in 2013-14, and the first conference title for the Bobcats since winning the Southland Conference in 1999. 
 
As a player, Black started in 68 of the 98 games he appeared in. Black averaged 5.6 points and shot 41.0% from the field. He totaled 287 assists which rank No. 9 all-time and rank No. 10 in the single-season record book with 144 assists and 998 total minutes played in the 2016-17 season. In the 2015-16 season, Black led the team with 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game before leading the team in assists (4.0 per game), and free-throw percentage (75.0%) in the 2016-17 season. 
 
Black graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sports Science and is pursuing a master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
