Alex Hausladen is in his eighth season as the director of basketball operations in 2021-22. He arrived in San Marcos after five years at Southeastern Louisiana as an assistant coach. A practitioner of advanced analytical statistics, Hausladen’s primary responsibilities have included scheduling, scouting, recruiting, serving as the compliance liaison as well as coaching and academic support.
He also has great experience with coordinating summer camps as he has been a part of coordinating over 30 camps, and worked camps at 10 different universities across the nation.
During his tenure at Southeastern Louisiana, the Lions had five All-Southland Conference players, four All-Louisiana players, three National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District players and made three trips to the conference tournament.
Prior to his arrival in Hammond, Hausladen spent two seasons at Christian Brothers University, helping the Bucs to a two-year record of 47-17, the 2009 South Region championship and a pair of NCAA Division II Tournament berths. During his stint in Memphis, Hausladen coached one first-team All-America selection, four All-Region selections, the 2009 South Region and Gulf South Conference-West Division Player of the Year. He also recruited a GSC Freshman of the Year.
In Hausladen's final season at CBU, the Bucs posted a 25-7 record in 2008-09 and led Division II in scoring defense allowing 56.2 points per game.
His career has also included a season at the University of the Ozarks. One of the players he signed was named to the American Southwest Conference All-Freshman team and was a two-time member All-ASC squad, finishing his career as one of the top three-point shooters in school history.
He began his career in collegiate basketball as a student manager and video coordinator at the University of Arkansas, where he spent four seasons under Stan Heath. In 2006, the Razorbacks made the 2006 NCAA Tournament. While there, he worked with a number of future NBA players, including the 14th overall pick in the 2006 draft by the Utah Jazz, Ronnie Brewer.
Hausladen graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He completed his Master of Education degree from CBU in December of 2008 and his Master of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in December 2016. Hausladen is also an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Health & Human Performance. Hausladen attended Marquette University High School in Milwaukee, where he spent three seasons as a student assistant coach.
He and his wife, Jessica, have two daughters, Meganne and Madison.
