Texas State Athletics

Chris Packer begins his first year as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Texas State basketball program. Packer will assist with on-campus recruiting and film exchange, coordinate team travel and direct community service efforts. Packer comes to Texas State after serving as the head boys basketball coach at Dumas High School for the past four years. While at Dumas, Packer implemented the Dumas High School Summer Basketball League and was an integral part of the Team Dumas Basketball Camps from 2007-2009. Packer played collegiate basketball at Clarendon Junior College and Sul Ross State. While at Sul Ross, Packer played two years under current Texas State head coach Doug Davalos, and was named the Sul Ross State University Man of the Year in 2004. Packer stayed on board with the team from 2005-06, as a graduate assistant. He aided in player development and helped with basketball operations. Packer holds a bachelor[apos]s degree in physical education and a master[apos]s degree in education and sport administration; both from Sul Ross State.
