Was a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter at El Maton's Tidehaven High School . . . tallied 61 catches for 911 yards and seven TD in his senior season . . . earned first-team all-district 15-2A honors as a junior and senior . . . was also a first-team all-district punter in each of those two seasons . . . averaged a 43.0 average on 21 punts his senior season . . . had 84 receptions for 1,050 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games as a junior . . . high school coach was Jim Sides.
