Will DeCraene is in his eighth year at Texas State and in his fifth season as an assistant athletic trainer with the Texas State football team.

DeCraene also served as an interim head football athletic trainer in Jan.-Feb. 2019. He was elevated to his current position in 2017 after serving the previous two years as a graduate assistant trainer at Texas State. His duties included teaching lab courses, serving as the athletic trainer for the lacrosse team, and serving as a volunteer trainer for the football and baseball teams.

DeCraene also served as a part-time trainer for several organizations while he attended graduate school. These included serving as a certified trainer for Medicine in Motion, a sports medicine service that provides medical care to athletes at various athletic events.

He worked at local five-kilometer races, high school sporting events and the head of the Colorado rowing race. He also worked with the University of Texas club sports in lacrosse, soccer and rowing teams. In addition, DeCraene was a part-time  athletic trainer at San Marcos Baptist Academy football, basketball, baseball and soccer games from 2015-17.

He began his career as an athletic trainer at Carthage College, where he was a baseball player for three years.

DeCraene earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training at Carthage in 2015 and a master’s degree at Texas State in 2017. He is married to the former Lindsey Anderson.Â
