Will Bryant joined the Bobcats in December 2022 when he was named the tight ends coach.
In his first season at Texas State, Bryant and the Bobcat tight ends helped Texas State rank as one of the top offenses in the country in 2023. The Bobcats were 12th in the country in scoring offense (36.7 points/game), 15th in total offense (457.6 yards/game), 26th in rushing offense (186.7 yards/game), and 28th in passing offense (270.9 yards/game).
Texas State tight ends Konner Fox and Titus Lyons were some of the top blocking tight ends in the Sun Belt as the two ranked sixth and eighth, respectively, in PFF run blocking grades.
The two were not limited to being run-blocking contributors. Fox had a career year despite missing several games due to injury by registering a personal-best 10 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. His 117 yards were the most by a Texas State tight end since 2019.
A native Texan, Bryant arrived in San Marcos with experience at the high school, FCS and FBS levels in his nine-year coaching career.
Prior to Texas State, Bryant was at UIW in 2022, where he was the tight ends coach and helped the program reach the FCS Playoffs semifinals for the first time in program history. The Cardinals also won their second straight Southland Conference championship and earned a No. 7 national seed in the playoffs.
Part of the nation’s top offense, Bryant and the tight ends helped the Cardinals become the nation’s highest scoring offense at both the FBS and FCS levels as well as the second-ranked FCS team in total offense. The team ran for more than 3,000 yards, a program record, and was second in the country in passing offense.
Bryant joined UIW after spending one season at Allen High School (TX) as the associate head coach, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator in 2021. He mentored multiple record-breaking pass catchers who went on to play at the FBS level.
He also has coaching stops at Auburn as an offensive analyst (2020), UTSA as an offensive analyst (2020), Arkansas as a senior offensive analyst (2018-19) and SMU as a graduate assistant (2015-18). Bryant coach alongside Texas State head coach GJ Kinne at Arkansas (2018) and SMU (2017).
Bryant is from Amarillo, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Art in Exercise Sports Science.
