Tom Wort begins his first season as a defensive graduate assistant working with Texas State’s linebackers. Wort is a former starting linebacker at Oklahoma for three seasons before declaring for the 2013 NFL Draft Combine.
Wort recorded 190 career tackles, including 17.5 for losses, 10 quarterback sacks, two pass intercepitons and one fumble recovery during his career with the Sooners. He was named a Second-Team Freshman All-American after playing in 12 games and making nine starts.
His best season came in 2011 when he earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore. In 2012, he played in all 13 games before earning his bachelor’s degree in sociology.
Wort went to Oklahoma after being selected to play in the ESPN UnderArmor All-Star game and earned SuperPrep All-American honors after recording 62 tackes and two interception returns for touchdowns despite playing in only seven games as a senior at New Braunfels High School. As a junior, he recorded 213 tackles, four sacks, and three interceptions.
