Tevin Mims is in his fourth year as an outside linebackers coach after the Bobcats in 2022.
Texas State ranked 47th in forced turnovers (15) and No. 25 in forced fumbles (8) in 2020. The Bobcats had the second-best passing defense in the Sun Belt Conference after surrendering just 199.3 passing yards per game. Mims also mentored Green Bay Packers free agent Frankie Griffin in 2019.
Mims came to Texas State after serving three seasons as a defensive graduate assistant coach at Texas Tech.
He went to Texas Tech after playing two seasons as a defensive end at South Florida. Mims was named the team’s defensive MVP and served as a team captain during his senior season, ranking fifth among team leaders with 40 tackles despite missing two games with an injury. He also tallied 6.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He ended his career with 75 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble during his two seasons with the Bulls.

Mims went to South Florida after helping lead Navarro to a Southwest Junior College Championship in 2011. He went to Navarro after playing four games as a freshman at Texas after playing four games as a freshman at Texas.

He also played with the Miami Dolphins of the NFL in 2014 under Joe Philbin and Kacey Rodgers.
Mims earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary social science at USF in December 2013. He earned a master’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science at Texas Tech in 2018. He is engaged to Krystle Copulos and has a son, Jaxson.Â
