Michael George

Michael George is in his third season as the director of player personnel for the Texas State football team after serving six years on the football staff at Ohio, including the final three years as the director of player personnel and high school relations. George previously served as a graduate assistant coach at Ohio, working on the offense with the wide receivers.
 
George went to Ohio after serving as an operations intern at Ohio State in 2009, assisting primarily with academics and community outreach. The Buckeyes finished with an 11-2 record, won the outright Big Ten and Rose Bowl championships and were No. 5 in the final AP poll.
 
He also was a graduate assistant for the offense at Villanova University in 2008, coaching the tight ends and assisting with the offensive tackles. Villanova finished the season with a 10-3 record and was a NCAA D1-FCS Quarterfinalist.
 
George previously worked as a student intern with the offensive line at Ohio State in 2006 and 2007 after starting his coaching career at his alma mater, Washington University in St. Louis. There, he worked with the tight ends and H-backs, and helped guide the team to a 6-4 record.
 
He also was a four-year student-athlete for the football and track & field teams at Washington University. George was a two-year starter at tight end and earned All-Conference recognition in 2004. His senior class finished with a 26-14 combined record in college, and was unblemished in conference play. He also earned multiple All-Conference honors in the shot put and discus.
 
A native of Russell, Ohio, George graduated from Washington University in 2005 with majors in physics, mathematics, and classics. He also earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Washington University in 2006 and his second master’s degree from Ohio State in 2008. In 2013, George earned a master’s degree from Ohio University in recreation and sports sciences. He and his wife, Lise, have two children, Soledad and Joaquín.
