A Texas High School Football Hall of Famer, Chad Morris was named the wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator in January 2024.
Morris, who came to Texas State after spending the 2023 season with Clemson as a special assistant to the head coach, is a veteran coach with more than 30 years of experience at the high school and collegiate levels. He was a legendary high school coach in the state of Texas for 16 years before breaking through to the college level starting in 2010 – when he was the offensive coordinator at Tulsa and mentored then-starting quarterback and current Texas State head coach GJ Kinne.
A native of Dallas, Morris has established himself as one of the top offensive minds in the sport. He orchestrated the Clemson offense from 2011 to 2014, when the Tigers set more than 120 offensive team and individual records, won 41 games in the four-year span, and produced eight NFL Draft picks.
Since the stop at Clemson, Morris has been the head coach at SMU and Arkansas as well as an offensive coordinator at Auburn.
As a high school coach, Morris cemented his legacy by helping Lake Travis High School win back-to-back undefeated state championships in 2008 and 2009 and leading the team to a 32-0 record over those two seasons. In 16 years, Morris led his teams to six Texas State Championship games, including three titles, and earned coach of the year honors 11 times.
