Brian Hamilton is in his third season on the Texas State coaching staff and first as the offensive line coach after assuming the role in February 2022.

In his first two years with the Bobcats in 2020 and 2021, Hamilton served as the tight ends coach. 

Hamilton arrived at Texas State after three seasons at Murray State. He started as the offensive line coach in 2017 before moving up to assistant head coach and offensive line coach in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
 
Murray State finished the 2018 season with a 5-3 conference record, its first winning conference mark since 2011. The Racers nearly doubled their yards per carry (4.4), averaged 132.7 yards rushing, and cut their sacks allowed nearly in half. One of his linemen was former walk-on Levi Nessler, who developed into a starting center and was named a Phil Steele Second-Team Freshman All-America selection in 2018.
 
A highly successful high school coach in the Bay Area of California, Hamilton moved to the college ranks as a quality control coach on offense for Cal under Sonny Dykes in 2015 and 2016 and primarily worked with the offensive line. He and Texas State head coach Jake Spavital served on the same coaching staff in 2016 when Spavital was offensive coordinator.
 
He went to Cal after serving 14 years in the high school ranks, including 11 seasons as the head coach Director of Athletics at Concord High School in California. He led the Minutemen to the North Coast Section championship in 2010. Concord finished as North Coast Section finalist in 2011 and 2014, while reaching the section semifinals in 2012.
 
Hamilton earned Contra Costa Times Coach of the Year honors for all divisions after his 2010 section title squad finished 13-1 overall. The Minutemen’s quarterback, Ricky Lloyd, led the state and ranked fourth nationally in passing yards (4,451 yards) and ranked third in touchdown passes with 52.
 
In 2011, Concord featured a rushing attack that led the state with 3,488 yards and ranked fourth in the nation with 35 touchdown runs. In his final season, quarterback Mitch Daniels threw for 57 touchdowns and 3,928 yards to rank third and sixth in the state, respectively.
 
Hamilton was runner-up for the San Francisco Chronicle’s Coach of the Year for all divisions in 2011 when Concord returned to the section title game and finished the season 10-5 overall.
 
He went to Concord after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Clayton Valley High School He was the team’s offensive coordinator in 2003 after serving as the offensive line coach the previous year. He began his coaching career as the defensive coordinator and linebackers’ coach at Southern Springs in New Year in 2001.
 
Hamilton played football for two seasons at SUNY Cortland (1999-2000), where he earned his bachelor’s degree in education in December of 2000. He also played for two campaigns at Pasadena City College (1995-96) after graduating from South Pasadena High School in 1994.
 
He and his wife, Christine, have two sons, Brock and Briggs.
