Blake Cundiff

Entering his 20th year in the field of strength and conditioning, Blake Cundiff is in his third season as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Texas State football team.

During his career, Cundiff has trained a wide variety of athletes ranging from high school football, baseball and hockey players to NFL, NHL and MLB stars such as Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Daryl Johnston, Michael Irvin and Brett Hull.

He joined Texas State’s staff after serving as the strength and conditioning coach at the University of Albany from 2008-April 2011, where his specific responsibilities were with the football and basketball teams.

Cundiff went to Albany after serving as  the executive sports performance director at Velocity Sports Performance in Missouri City, Texas from Mar. 2007-July 2008.

He also was an associate director of strength and conditioning at Minnesota from 2005-07.

There, he was involved in all aspects of the Golden Gopher football strength program.

Prior to his stint at Minnesota, Cundiff was the director of speed development and the director of sports nutrition for Minnesota’s football team. In addition, he coordinated the offseason conditioning program and worked with the training staff to design and implement a rehabilitation program for injured athletes.

 Cundiff also served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Dallas Cowboys from 1997-2000. Dallas advanced to the playoffs twice during his tenure.

Before his coaching experience in the NFL, Cundiff spent four years as an assistant strength coach at North Texas from 1993-97, and was the head strength coach for the Grapevine High School football program for two years.

His experience also includes being the owner and director of Prostar Sports Performance.
He also served as the strength coach for the Emmitt Smith Football Camps in 1994 and 1995 and the director of strength and conditioning for the Dallas Stars Junior Hockey Camp in 1995.

 In addition, he was a speed, strength and conditioning consultant for the Dallas Stars.
A native of Texas, Cundiff is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with emphasis in exercise physiology and injury rehabilitation at North Texas in 1995. He also received an associate’s degree in business management at Mountain View College.
