Andrew Johnson is in his fourth year at Texas State and his third season as the director of equipment operations for the Bobcats, Johnson came to Texas State as the head equipment manager in 2018. He joined the Bobcats’ football staff after serving the past four years as an equipment manager with the New York Jets.

With the Jets, Johnson traveled to London to work in the NFL International Series at Wembley Stadium. He also was selected to participate in the Managers on a Mission (MOAM) program that sends future leaders in sports to different countries in Africa. Johnson traveled to Mzuzu, Malawi, to do mission work and teach sports to orphaned children in 2017.

Johnson began his career in collegiate athletics as a student athletic trainer at Tyler Junior College for the basketball team and baseball team that was the runner-up at the 2010 Junior College World Series.

He was a student equipment manager at Oklahoma State when the Cowboys won the 2010 Alamo Bowl, 2011 Big 12 Conference championship and the 2012 BCS Championship’s Fiesta Bowl and 2012 Heart of Dallas Bowl. OSU also played in the 2013 Cotton Bowl.

Born June 26, 1989, Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science with an emphasis in sports management in 2013. He received an associate’s degree in athletic training at Tyler Junior College in 2010.
