Tammy Fife

Tammy Fife has been a faculty member of dance at Texas State University since 1996 and was named the Director of the Strutters in 2014.

She received her MFA from Sam Houston State University, her MSED from University of Houston and her BSED from Southwest Texas State University. She wrote the curriculum for and created a class titled “Dance Team Directing” which is now required for all dance education majors.

At Texas State University, Tammy is primarily responsible for the dance education majors and oversees all aspects of the world's largest precision dance team. She teaches the “Methods of Teaching Dance” course and supervises all dance student teachers.

Tammy teaches Ballet, Jazz, Recreational Dance, and Dance History. Prior to joining the Texas State faculty and becoming the Director, Tammy taught high school dance and directed high school dance team for ten years in the Houston area. She was selected to present “Recovering From Grief Through the Creation of a Choreographic Eulogy” at the Hawaii International Conference on Art and Humanities in 2007. She received a faculty service award at Texas State University in 2004, and she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Dance Educators Association in 2008.
