SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State head gymnastics coach Sarah Brown has announced the addition of Olympian and decorated collegiate standout Lynnzee Brown as an assistant coach for the Bobcats' inaugural NCAA Division I gymnastics program.

The trailblazing Haitian Olympian and rising collegiate coach joins Texas State after spending three seasons on the coaching staff at Penn State, where she helped guide the Nittany Lions to three consecutive NCAA Regional appearances while earning Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) North East Region Assistant Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2024.

Lynnzee Brown reunites with Sarah Brown, bringing continuity, championship experience and a shared vision as Texas State builds the state's first NCAA Division I women's gymnastics program from the ground up. The pair helped elevate Penn State into a nationally ranked program before embarking on the historic opportunity in San Marcos.

"Over the last three seasons, it became obvious she was meant to be in collegiate gymnastics. She brings world-class experience as an athlete, a wealth of gymnastics knowledge and will be the perfect fit for Team One. Her passion and positivity are exactly what we need in San Marcos and I can't wait for her to get started!"

Brown arrives in San Marcos following a remarkable athletic career that culminated in making history at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Representing Haiti, she became the first gymnast in the nation's history to compete at the Olympics and produced a personal-best all-around score. She continued training for international competition while serving as a full-time collegiate coach, offering a unique perspective for student-athletes.

At Penn State, Brown coached across all four events while helping develop one of the nation's most consistent programs. The Nittany Lions qualified for NCAA Regionals in each of her seasons on staff, earned multiple All-Big Ten honors and climbed into the national rankings. With Brown serving as the primary floor coach in 2026, the squad increased its ranking 21 spots from 2025 to 2026, moving up from No. 47 to No. 26 in the nation.

As a student-athlete at Denver, Brown was an NCAA co-national champion on floor exercise (2019) and co-national runner-up on vault (2023), while closing out her career as a 10-time WCGA Postseason All-American and two-time AAI Award finalist. She also finished fourth in the nation on floor and all-around during her final campaign and was a 2023 finalist for the Honda Inspiration Award after returning for the second time from an Achilles tear. Following her first season-ending injury, she was named the Big 12 Co-Gymnast of the Year and NCAA Region 2 Gymnast of the Year in 2021.

Brown earned both her bachelor's degree in media studies and master's degree in communication management with an emphasis in user experience strategy from Denver.
