Texas State Continues Win Streak With 7-0 Sweep of UIW

Bobcats earn sixth consecutive win with dominant home performance

SAN MARCOS, Texas– Texas State women's tennis defeated UIW 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex, extending its winning streak to six matches.

The Bobcats secured the doubles point for the sixth consecutive match before clinching the team victory with three straight singles wins. The remaining singles matches were played out after Texas State had already secured the victory, resulting in the 7-0 final.

Texas State improved to 6-2 overall, including a 3-0 mark at home and 3-1 record on the road. The Bobcats also opened last season with a 6-2 start en route to the winningest campaign in program history.

Doubles
Seniors Ireland Simme and Emily Niers opened doubles play on court one with a 6-2 victory over UIW's Alejandra Perez Corona and Ine Lamprecht.

Stoney Cooks and Charlotte Roesch clinched the doubles point on court two with a 6-3 win against Estefania Gonzalez and Amelie Montalvo.

The sophomore tandem of Tadiwa Mauchi and Chantajah Mills were tied 4-4 on court three against McKenzy Byfield and Paule Jacqueline Mille when the doubles point was secured.

Singles
Texas State carried its momentum into singles play, sweeping all six courts.

Simme was first off the court, defeating Perez Corona 6-0, 6-1 on court three. Niers followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Gonzalez on court one.

Freshman Anastasia Radovanovic clinched the match on court five with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Luci Paez Hernandez in her first home singles appearance of the season.

With the match decided, the Bobcats completed the sweep. Mills earned a 6-3, 6-2 win on court six, while Cooks secured a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Montalvo on court four.

Mauchi closed out the afternoon on court two with a 6-1, 6-4 win to seal the 7-0 result.

Texas State returns to action Friday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. against North Texas in Denton.
