Bobcats Look to Extend Winning Streak on Saturday Against ULM

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State (16-11, 8-6 Sun Belt) looks to extend its five-game winning streak on Saturday when the team hosts ULM (4-22, 1-12 Sun Belt). Tipoff is scheduled for 2 pm from inside Strahan Arena.

About Texas State
The Bobcats are coming off a 74-62 win over then Sun Belt Conference leaders Troy on Wednesday. The victory was the 14th at home this season and they are one shy of tying the program record of 15 wins that was set in the 1993-94 campaign and matched in 2019-20.

DJ Hall is coming off his seventh 20-point game of the year to increase his scoring average to 14.5 points per game. He leads the conference shooting 54.9% from the field and is seventh with 7.4 rebounds per game. The freshman has also recorded 61 assists, 38 steals and 10 blocks.

The only other Bobcat with a double-digit scoring average is Mark Drone at 13.8 ppg. The senior has made 44.0% of his shot attempts, knocked down 22 three-pointers, handed out 69 assists and recorded 27 steals.

Kaden Gumbs leads the conference with 55 steals, which is the tied for the fifth most in a season in Texas State history. The San Marcos native is contributing 9.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg and has dished out 85 assists. Franck Emmou has knocked down a team leading 26 three-pointers and has made 38.2% of his attempts from beyond the arc.

About ULM
The Warhawks have lost two straight games and 15 of their last 16 contests after falling by 33 points at Arkansas State on Wednesday. Their lone win in the stretch was on Feb. 4 at Old Dominion by a score of 85-79. On the road, ULM is 1-13 with a 1-5 mark against Sun Belt opponents.

Four players are averaging at least 10 points a contest led by Krystian Lewis at 18.0 ppg. He also paces the team with 50 made three-pointers, 153 made free throws, 78 assists and 42 steals. MJ Russell enters putting up 15.7 ppg behind 43 made treys and has blocked 30 shots.

Contributing 14.1 ppg with a team-high 50.3% shooting mark and 8.7 rpg is Lavell Brodnex. Rounding out the double-digit scorers is Renars Sonders at 10.8 ppg but he has missed the last two games.

Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 36-32, has won the last five games and 13 of the last 15 meetings. In the first meeting this season, the Bobcats won 84-79 in Monroe back on Jan. 2 behind 24 points from Mark Drone.

When playing in San Marcos, TXST is 18-13 all-time in the series. The Bobcats have been victorious in the last two games and six of the last seven in Strahan Arena. Last time the teams played in Central Texas was an 80-63 contest on Feb. 19, 2025.
