Men’s Hoops Closes Out the Weekend at ULM

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (8-7, 1-2 Sun Belt) wraps up its weekend on the road with an afternoon contest at ULM (3-12, 0-3 Sun Belt) on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. from Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

About Texas State

The Bobcats are coming off a loss on New Year's Eve at Troy and remain winless away from Strahan Arena this season. Mark Drone and DJ Hall combined for 42 points with 20 and 22 points, respectively. In the contest. Saturday is the second of four consecutive road games for TXST.

Drone increased his team leading scoring mark to 13.6 points per game on 47.3% shooting. He has knocked down 13 three-pointers, tied for the second most on the squad. Hall is averaging 12.9 ppg and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game. The freshman also has recorded 36 assists and 21 steals.

The trio of Franck Emmou (7.6), Kaden Gumbs (7.5) and Makai Willis (7.1) are putting up at least seven points a contest. Emmou has made a team leading 15 three-pointers while Gumbs paces the squad with 57 assists and 28 steals.

About ULM
The Warhawks enter Saturday having lost five straight games. Three of the contests have taken place at home with all of them being against Sun Belt Conference opponents. Overall, ULM is 3-4 at home with non-conference victories over Arkansas Baptist, Mississippi Valley State and Rust College.

Four players are averaging at least 10 points a game led by MJ Russell at 16.5. Krystian Lewis is right behind him at 16.4 ppg. He is shooting just 32.8% from the field but is 88-of-103 (85.4%) at the free throw line. The duo come in having made a combined 58 of the team's 123 three-pointers.

Lavell Brodnex is nearly averaging a double-double at 14.6 ppg and 9.3 rpg. Renars Sonders rounds out the double-digit scorers at 10.3 a contest.

Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 35-32. The 67 games are the most for the Bobcats against any Sun Belt opponent. Heading into Saturday, Texas State has won the last four meetings and 16 of the last 18.

When playing on the road, the Bobcats are 13-19 all-time but are 8-4 in Monroe in Sun Belt contests.
