SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State volleyball suffered a 3-0 loss to Tulsa on Friday night.
WHAT HEAD COACH SEAN HUIET SAID: "Hats off to Tulsa. It's disappointing on our side of the net. Tulsa's a great team. They had a great game plan, and they stuck to it. It just was not our night."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set one was a battle from the jump as both teams stayed within four points of each other the entire way through the set. Texas State was able to keep it close through the end, but back-to-back kills by Olivia Vance helped Tulsa edge out the set one win 25-23. Texas State struggled to get momentum offensively, tallying just nine kills in the opening set with four attack errors.
Texas State altered its personnel a bit in the second set, with
Ameena Campbell and
Britton Finley entering in the later stages of the second set. The team again struggled to find any rhythm offensively, though, and tallied 11 kills on 37 swings. Tulsa was able to dig 19 balls to keep the Bobcats from scoring, and won set two 25-18.
Texas State continued to try out an arsenal of arms in set three, bringing in freshman
Adison Ozuna and
Isabella Andrews in the third set. The pair, alongside
Caelyn Emmerling, made their Strahan Arena debuts for the season tonight. Ozuna tallied six kills in her lone set of the night, the second most on the team after outside hitter
Nina Moorer. 13 different Bobcats saw action in tonight's match. Tulsa took set three 25-19.
Texas State is now 3-4Â on the season.
