A Letter from Director of Athletics Don Coryell

Dear Bobcat Fans,

Amid an exciting 2024-25 athletics season at Texas State, we continue to celebrate the success of our student-athletes and staff while also beginning to look ahead to the fall of 2025 with announcements like our football schedule release and the launch of ticket sales.

As the legal framework and broader landscape of college athletics continues to evolve, Texas State is embracing a new era - one that ensures our athletics department will continue to thrive. With the potential creation and authorization of revenue-sharing models, we are preparing to implement a program that directly benefits our athletes. Through licensing agreements and ambassador roles within our department and university, Texas State is developing a process to share revenue with student-athletes, providing them with essential resources to enhance their experience while strengthening our ability to recruit, retain, and graduate top talent.

By embracing these changes, we are creating new opportunities that will elevate our athletic programs. While our approach will continue to evolve alongside the national landscape, our commitment remains clear—investing in our student-athletes in meaningful ways to bring greater recognition and success to Texas State University.

We've already seen the incredible impact we can achieve together. At the midpoint of the 2024-25 school year, Texas State leads the Sun Belt Conference in the Bubas Cup standings, a testament to the strength of our athletics program. Soccer reached the Sun Belt Conference Championship match, volleyball dominated the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to earn an NCAA Tournament berth, and football secured its second consecutive bowl victory. Our softball team is off to a fantastic start, our women's indoor track and field team won another conference championship, and our baseball team recently defeated Texas A&M, the No. 1-ranked team in the country. These achievements reflect the unwavering support of our Bobcat community, and sustaining this success requires the continued commitment of our fans, alumni, and partners.

In the coming months, you'll hear more about an Athletics capital campaign focused on growing the Bobcat Club Excellence Fund, advancing high-impact facility projects, and increasing endowed scholarships and season ticket support. These initiatives will allow us to invest even more in our student-athletes and light the star more frequently after Bobcat victories.

This is a defining moment for Texas State Athletics. With your support, we will continue to build a nationally recognized program that competes for conference and national championships while ensuring our student-athletes thrive in this new era of college sports. Together, we are shaping the future of Bobcat Athletics.

Go Bobcats!

Sincerely,

Don Coryell
