SAN MARCOS, Texas – The final game of the 2025 calendar year for the Texas State men's basketball team (8-6, 1-1 Sun Belt) takes place on Wednesday when the team travels to face Troy (8-5, 1-0 Sun Belt). Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Trojan Arena.

About Texas State
Last time the Bobcats were on the hardwood they came back from 15 points down to defeat South Alabama on Dec. 20. It was the largest comeback by the team since overcoming a 21-point deficit at Denver on Dec. 19, 2020.
Mark Drone leads the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game on 47.4% shooting. He has netted at least 10 points in each of the last seven contests. The only other Texas State player with a double-digit scoring average is DJ Hall at 12.3 ppg. The freshman also paces the squad with 7.1 rebounds per game and is second in assists (32) and steals (21).
Dishing out 4.0 assists per game is Kaden Gumbs. The San Marcos native also leads the team with 28 steals and an 85.3% mark at the free throw line while scoring 8.0 ppg. Both Franck Emmou and Dimp Pernell have knocked down a team best 13 three-pointers.
About Troy
The Trojans opened Sun Belt play with a 70-63 victory at home over Marshall back on Dec. 20. It marked their third straight win that also saw them defeat LaGrange and UAB. At home, Troy is 3-1 with the lone loss coming on the first of the month against West Georgia.
Victor Valdes leads the team with 17.7 ppg on 44.2% shooting and is second with 50 assists. Averaging a double-double of 15.2 ppg and 10.3 rpg is Thomas Dowd, who also paces the squad with 31 made three-pointers and 13 blocks.
Both Cooper Campbell (14.3) and Theo Seng (13.2) are contributing over 13 points a contest. Cobi Campbell is adding 9.2 ppg with 22 of his 38 made shots coming from beyond the arc.
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 12-10. Last season the teams split the two regular season meetings with the road team being victorious each time.
When playing on the road, TXST is 5-4 all-time in the series. The Bobcats won the last meeting in Troy, 74-73, back on Jan. 9 behind 17 points off the bench from Drone in his season debut. Tylan Pope added a 27-point, 10-rebound double-double and knocked down the game-winning free throw with 1.1 seconds left on the clock.
