Third Straight Victory After Downing Wildcats

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (4-2) made it three consecutive victories after defeating Abilene Christian (3-2) 63-49 on Tuesday night at Strahan Arena.

The Bobcats limited the Wildcats to just 30.9% (17-of-55) shooting and just one player reached double-figures in Braydn Hubbard with 13. Texas State ended the game making 45.7% (21-of-46) shots, going 5-for-8 (62.5%) on three-pointers and held a 38-34 advantage on the glass.

DJ Hall recorded his second double-double in three games with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds while blocking two shots. Coming off the bench, Dimp Pernell scored a team-high 13 points that saw him knock down all four of his shot attempts, including two three-pointers, and was 3-for-3 at the free throw line over the final 20 minutes.

Adding 11 points as Makai Willis while Franck Emmou netted 10 points with two made treys. Kyndall Davis came off the bench and blocked a game-high three shots.

Mark Drone hit a jumper to open the scoring in the contest. ACU would score the net five points to take its lone lead of the game. The Bobcats responded with a 16-1 run over a 5:49 minute span.

Chipping away, the Wildcats were able to get within 24-22 at the 2:53 mark of the first half. Texas State would hold the visitors scoreless for the rest of the half while scoring eight points that was capped off by a dunk from Willis just before the horn.

The second half saw the Bobcats keep a double-digit lead throughout. Emmou made a layup with 10:09 to play to put TXST up 50-30 for its largest advantage of the night.

Next up for Texas State is a meeting with former Sun Belt Conference foe Little Rock on Friday to continue the homestand. Tipoff for the contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
