JONESBORO, Arkansas — Texas State volleyball suffered a 3-0 loss to Arkansas State on Saturday night amidst error-ridden afternoon in Jonesboro.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bobcats started off the match well, battling within two points of the Red Wolves. The two teams were tied at 15 midways through, but the Red Wolves would go on a 4-0 run to put distance between the two. They carried that lead through to the end, winning set one 25-19. Texas State swung just .054 while the home side was 11-3-31 for a .258 attack percentage in the first set.
The Bobcats found themselves down early in the second set, trailing 8-4. After going down by a 15-6 score, Texas State battled their way through the second set but were unable to overcome the deficit. Arkansas State won the second set 25-17 despite a five-kill set from the freshman
Isabella Andrews.
The third set was more errors from the Bobcats, with a .114 attack percentage. They were able to keep things close in the early stages of the third set again, but a 5-0 run by the Red Wolves took the score from 11-9 to 16-9 and the Bobcats were unable to find their way back into the set. ASU won the third set 25-17 to win the match.
After today's three set loss, Texas State is 8-11 on the season and 3-5 in Sun Belt play.
