SAN MARCOS, Texas – Thursday night saw Texas State fall to Louisiana 70-61 in the team's annual White Out game in Strahan Arena.

With the result, the Bobcats fall to 12-10 overall while the Ragin' Cauns are now 7-15 on the season. Both teams have a 5-5 record in Sun Belt Conference play.

Kaden Gumbs led all players with 17 points after going 6-for-9 from the field, 1-of-2 on three-pointers and making all four of his free throw attempts. He also finished with six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Both
Coleton Benson and
Joshua O'Garro netted 10 points apiece. O'Garro paced all players with seven rebounds while adding two blocks.

Returning from injury,
Drue Drinnon scored eight points off the bench behind a perfect 6-for-6 performance at the charity stripe.
Tylan Pope blocked four shots and recorded two steals.

Texas State led for most of the first half as the team twice went up by 10. The last time being on a
Coleton Benson three-pointer at the 9:04 mark to put them up 22-12.

After making nine of its first 16 shots, Benson's trey would be the last made bucket in the period for the Bobcats as they missed their last 10 attempts. The final five points of the half came at the free throw line with
Drue Drinnon making four of them.

Over the last 1:49 of the first half, Louisiana went on an 11-0 run to take a 33-27 lead into the break.

After the Cajuns scored the first bucket of the second half, Texas State went on a 13-3 run over a 6:17 minute span. Capping off the scoring stretch was
Austin Green laying in his own missed free throw.

The teams would trad ethe lead over the next two-plus minutes until the visitors scored 12 of the next 16 points to go up 56-48 with 7:13 left in the game. The Bobcats twice cut the deficit to six with the last time coming on a Green tip-in with 2:09 to play that made it 62-56.

Louisiana followed with an 8-2 run to put the game away. Benson hit a long-distance attempt with six seconds to play for the final points of the evening.

Next up for TXST is a meeting with conference leading Arkansas State on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. from inside Strahan Arena.
