SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (11-8, 4-3 Sun Belt) is back on the road this week beginning with a Thursday afternoon contest at Louisiana (6-13, 4-3 Sun Belt). Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. from the Cajundome.

About Texas State
The Bobcats have won three of their last four games, including both last week at home. They are currently tied for fourth in the Sun Belt Conference with Marshall, Old Dominion, Troy and the Ragin' Cajuns. This season, TXST is 4-7 when playing away from San Marcos with a 2-6 mark in true road games.
Coming off being named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week and Sun Belt Player of the Week, Tylan Pope leads the team in scoring (15.5), field goal percentage (53.2), made free throws (84), free throw attempts (106) and blocks (31). He is also averaging 6.5 rebounds per game.
Tyrel Morgan enters netting 14.4 ppg and he shares the team lead in rebounding at 6.8 per contest with Joshua O'Garro. Leading the way with 4.6 assists per game and contributing 12.1 ppg is Kaden Gumbs. Following his 23-point outburst on Saturday, Coleton Benson increased his scoring mark to 10.3 ppg. The junior has made 26 three-pointers and is shooting 40.0% from beyond the arc.
About Louisiana
The Cajuns are coming off their second win of the year over in-state rival ULM. When playing at home, Louisiana is 4-7 this season with a 2-1 record against Sun Belt opponents. The wins in conference play in the Cajundome have come against App State and the Warhawks while the loss came versus Old Dominion.
Mostapha El Mautaouakkil leads the squad in scoring (12.6), rebounding (5.3), steals (28) and made field goals (83). The only other player with a double-digit scoring mark is Kentrell Garnett at 10.1 having knocked down 39 three-pointers. Christian Wright is adding 8.8 ppg and has handed out 38 assists, two behind Michael Thomas for the team lead.
Series History
Louisiana leads the all-time series 21-7 and has won the last six meetings. The last win for Texas State came on Feb. 10, 2022 in Lafayette by a score of 83-73 behind a 20-point effort from Mason Harrell.
The Bobcats have posted a 3-9 record when playing the Cajuns on the road. All three of the victories came in a three-year stretch from 2020-22.
