About Texas State
The Bobcats nearly pulled off a 20-point comeback on Saturday at Southern Miss but would fall in overtime. Mark Drone went off for 30 points in the contest with 22 of them coming after halftime. He is the first TXST to net at least 30 points since Davion Sykes also had 30 against Troy on Mar. 1, 2024. In the two games last week, Drone averaged 23.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per game

Also with a double-digit scoring average is Kaden Gumbs at 12.1 ppg. The sophomore is dishing out 4.5 apg and has recorded a team-high 26 steals, one more than Morgan.

Drue Drinnon continues to pace TXST with 23 made three-pointers and a 51.1% mark from beyond the arc. Others to knock down double-digit treys has been Coleton Benson (16), Dyaln Dawson (13) and Morgan (11).

About Georgia State
The Panthers enter Wednesday on a three-game winning streak with all of the contests coming at home. Saturday saw them overcome a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat Coastal Carolina 79-74. When playing outside of Atlanta, GSU is 1-6 overall and 0-5 in true road contests. Wednesday will be the first time the team has played on the road since Dec. 21, 2024 at Troy that saw the Panthers fall 77-57.

Zarique Nutter leads the team at 15.8 ppg and is shooting 47.4% from the field. Toneari Lane adds 13.9 ppg behind a team-high 44 made three-pointers. However, he is shooting just 29.9% from beyond the arc.

Also with a double-digit scoring average is Cesare Edwards at 13.5 ppg. The senior paces GSU with 18 blocks and is second on the team with 6.8 rpg. Nick McMullen comes in nearly averaging a double-double with 9.7 ppg and 9.9 rpg.

Series History
Georgia State leads the all-time series 11-8 but Texas State has won the last three meetings. Last season, the Bobcats won 68-59 in Atlanta behind a 17-point performance from Benson.

When hosting the Panthers, TXST is 2-5 all-time. The first win came in the first-ever meeting between the programs by a score of 73-62 on Dec. 16, 1992. The only other win in Strahan Arena was an 86-76 contest on Feb. 22, 2020. That night saw Eric Terry score a team-high 20 points and Nijal Pearson nearly record a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds on senior night. That game was also the most recent to be played in San Marcos between the teams.
