SAN MARCOS, TX — In its final tune-up of the preseason, Texas State volleyball won 3-0 over Lamar in an exhibition match on Saturday afternoon.

"We did exactly what we talked about," said Head Coach
Sean Huiet. "We played a lot of people. We've had a really good preseason. We've seen a lot of really good things. It was nice today to see it transform on to the court. I'm very pleased with the effort, and obviously the outcome today."
Throughout the first set, the Bobcats were full steam ahead, going up as much as 12-1 at one point in the first set when
Ryann Torres serving took the team on a 12-0 run. From there the Bobcats held Lamar to just six points in the first set, taking the first set 25-6.

"I was first server so just so my job is to just get the first two over and in," said Torres. "Then once you get into a rhythm it's just 'okay just ace them off the court.' It's about having an aggressive but calm mindset, that's what helped me."
Set two was a closer set between the two sides, but Texas State was still able to win it 25-18. Despite going down 4-1 early in the set, the Bobcats again went on a run, this time a 7-2 run, to reclaim a 10-8 lead they never gave up. Highlighted by five kills and two blocks from
Brooke Bentke, the Bobcats were able to keep the momentum headed into the third set despite pressure from the Cardinals.

"It was good because they did challenge us," Huiet said. "I thought it was good to see us respond being down there by four or five. We like to not focus on what the other team's jersey says and be the same all the time, so to see the team respond was nice."
With some lineup rotation in set three the Bobcats were able to see nearly their entire team play in the exhibition with Lamar. In set three, MJ McCurdy,
Zenai Jethroe and
Bailey Hanner led the kills with three each. Additionally, the team had two blocks which added to their total of 9.0 on the night.

The Bobcats went on to sweep Lamar 3-0, highlighted by a crowd of over 1,000 people inside Strahan Arena. The team also played a 4
th set for some additional reps before the season that the Bobcats also won by a score of 25-16.
