SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State football will host three home games in 2024 on linear ESPN broadcasts as the Sun Belt Conference and its television partners announced game times for the first three weeks of the season and additional midweek games.
Texas State, so far, will play a total of four games on a linear ESPN broadcast this season, including the home games against UTSA on Sept. 7 (3 pm, ESPNU), Arizona State on Sept. 12 (6:30 pm, ESPN), and Louisiana on Oct. 29 (6:30 pm, ESPN2). The Bobcats' game at Troy on Thursday, Oct. 3 is set for 6 pm on ESPNU.
Also included in Thursday's announcement was the season opener against Lamar at UFCU Stadium on Aug. 31 is set for a 7 pm start and will be broadcast on ESPN+. Meanwhile, the Friday, Nov. 29 matchup at South Alabama to close out the regular season will be played at 2:30 pm on ESPN+.
Texas State's four games on linear ESPN broadcasts are the most of any Sun Belt team. The Bobcats are also the only Sun Belt team at this point with more than one home game on an ESPN linear channel.
All other game times, including the remaining three home games, will be held to the broadcast selection window and announced as soon as 12 days before gameday. These home games include Oct. 12 vs. Arkansas State, Nov. 16 vs. Southern Miss, and Nov. 23 vs. Georgia State.
The Bobcats, under second-year head coach
GJ Kinne, return 17 starters from last year's SERVPRO First Responder Bowl championship-winning team. They also feature the Sun Belt's highest-rated newcomer class, according to 247Sports.
