SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State softball suffered its second home loss of conference play on Friday night after Louisiana hit three home runs to outscore the Bobcats 7-0.
What Head Coach Ricci Woodard said: "I thought they outexecuted us. They executed what they needed to and we did not. Like I just told them, if you give up 11 hits and you only get four hits, you're probably going to get beat. [Louisiana] controlled every aspect of the game tonight in my opinion."
How it Happened
Jessica Mullins started in the circle for the Bobcats. She gave up a double to left center from the leadoff batter that would go on to score on two ground outs.
In the bottom half of the inning, Hannah Earls was walked to get on base, but she couldn't score after a pop up, strike out and fly out by the Bobcats. Earls has now reached base in 22 straight games.
Neither side added a run in the second, but UL took a 4-0 lead in the third off a three-run homer off the bat of Langeliers.
In the bottom of the third and the fourth, no more runs were added.
Texas State was able to load the bases in the bottom of the 5
th, but with no runs scored.
Piper Randolph singled up the middle, followed by a Vanderford double to left to put two runners in scoring position.
Anna Jones was walked to load the bases with two outs. The inning ended after
Karmyn Bass flew out.
Louisiana added three more runs in the top of the 7
th inning, two off home runs. Their third of the inning and final run of the game came off a RBI single after Langeliers had gotten on base from a single of her own. Ultimately, the Bobcats turning a double play ended the inning.
Vanderford was able to get a hit in the 7
