LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas State softball went 2-0 in its final day at the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic. The wins included a perfect game from
Jessica Mullins in a 7-0 win, and a 9-1 run-rule victory against New Mexico State. The 'Cats had four home runs and 12 extra-base hits in the two wins.

Starting things off with a rematch from yesterday's loss, the Bobcats dished out a perfect game 7-0 win.
Jessica Mullins tossed the complete game for the Bobcats where she retired 21 straight batters for a perfect game, the first seven inning perfect game since 2008. The Bobcats seven runs came from
JJ Smith and
Piper Randolph homers, and
Sara Vanderford,
Anna Jones and Randolph doubles.
After run-ruling the Aggies the day prior, the Bobcats did it again. This time with
Karsen Pierce and
Tori McCann splitting time in the circle and allowing just one run. The Bobcats nine runs came from Vanderford and
Karmyn Bass homers, a Kat Zarate triple, an
Emilee Baker double, two singles, and a pair of errors by the Aggies.

Vanderford finished the doubleheader with 4-6 batting while hitting a home run and two doubles. She also had three RBI.
The Bobcats will return home this week for a series with Penn State in the teams final tune up before conference play. The 'Cats will play a single game on March 7 at 6 pm and a double header on March 8 with the first game at 4, the second at 6:30.

Mullins Tosses Perfect Game, Cats Win 7-0
Jessica Mullins started in the circle for the Bobcats where she would toss a perfect game for the first time in the senior's collegiate career. It was the first seven inning perfect game since 2008 by a Bobcat pitcher. She struck out eight of the batters she faced in the complete game effort.

The Bobcats bats were hot, too. Starting things off was a 2 RBI home run from
JJ Smith who batted in Randolph. Randolph went 3-3 on the day with a single, a double and a home run against the Miners. Her first hit was a single to get on base in the 2
nd inning, where she scored off the Smith home run.

The 'Cats added three runs to the board in the third when Vanderford and Jones had back to back doubles to score, followed by a third double from Randolph. Those three runs gave the 'Cats a 5-0 lead after the third.

Vanderford hit her second double of the day in the 5
th inning to get on base. Randolph's third hit, her home run, would tack on the last two RBI for the Bobcats. Headed to the 6
th the 'Cats led 7-0.

From there, it was about Mullins completing the perfect game effort. She struck out all three batters in the top of the sixth, and two of the three in the the 7
th. The final out would come from a ground out to Kat Zarate at 2
nd base, but the perfect game prevailed. 21 batters faced, 21 retired for
Jessica Mullins as she completed the perfect game.

Bobcats Run-Rule New Mexico State
Sara Vanderford started things off with a home run to get the Bobcats on the board early.Â
Karsen Pierce started in the circle for the Bobcats andm had two strike outs in the first inning. She gave up one hit but allowed no runs.Â

The Aggies pulled back a lone run in the third after capitalizing on a catching error. From there, the Bobcats scored eight unanswered runs.

Karmyn Bass had a two-run homer in the top of the 4
th to take the 'Cats up 3-1. This was her first home run of the season. She scored
Anna Jones, who got on base from a double.

The doubles kept coming in the 5
th inning when
Emilee Baker hit an RBI double for the 4
th run of the game.

Up next,
Sara Vanderford continued her hot day with a single up to score Baker. Capping off the inning was another RBI single from Jones.

In the 6
th the 'Cats added two more runs. Kat Zarate tripled, scoring on the throw on her at-bat. Following that up was an RBI walk from pinch hitter
Halee Vance. The bases were loaded off an error for Baker, a walk for Earls and
Makayla Hall was hit by the pitch.

Earls would go on to score off a wild pitch to make it a 9-1 game.Â

Tori McCann came in to close out the game, not allowing any runs to seal the run-rule for the Bobcats.
