SAN MARCOS, Texas – After claiming two wins last week, the Texas State men's basketball team (9-14, 3-8 Sun Belt) faces a stiff test on Wednesday when it welcomes Sun Belt Conference leading App State (19-4, 10-1 Sun Belt) to town. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. from inside Strahan Arena.

The Bobcats recorded their first winning streak in conference play since claiming three straight road contests from Jan. 5-12, 2023. It was also the first time the program had swept a home weekend since Feb. 17-29, 2022 against Arkansas State and Little Rock.
Brandon Love had a big game with 15 points and career-high tying 14 rebounds against Southern Miss on Saturday and
Jordan Mason added 14 points with 10 coming in the final 4:2# of the game.
Mason continues to lead the team at 12.7 points per game while making a team best 78.1% of his free throws. The sophomore is second on the team with 50 assists and 22 steals. Love enters the game averaging 11.3 ppg and grabbing a team-high 6.1 rebounds a contest. He has blocked 42 shots, which ranks third in the Sun Belt Conference and is tied for the fifth most by a TXST player in a season.
Davion Sykes started his second straight game on Saturday in which he put up 12 points and eight rebounds. In 10 games, the sophomore is averaging 9.4 ppg and 6.1 rpg while shooting 52.7% from the field. Also with a scoring mark of over nine points a game is Gumbs at 9.7. He is also dishing out 3.7 assists per game and leads the team with 26 steals.

About App State
The Mountaineers come to San Marcos on an eight-game winning streak. The lone conference loss came at Troy on Jan. 6 by a score of 66-62. When playing away from home, APP is 9-4 with a 6-3 mark in true road games. Wednesday marks the conclusion of a three-game road swing for the Mountaineers that saw them beat Georgia State and Georgia Southern last week.
Tre'Von Spillers leads the team in scoring (13.8), rebounding (8.4) and field goal percentage (63.8) while ranking second in blocks (34). Justin Abson is second in the nation with 72 blocks and 3.1 blocks per game. He is adding 8.1 ppg and 7.4 rpg and is shooting 60.2% from the field.
Donovan Gregory is netting 12.2 ppg behind a team best 79.2% free throw mark. Also with a double-digit scoring mark is Terence Harcum at 11.6 ppg with a team-high 49 made three-pointers. Also with more than 40 made treys is Christopher Mantis (41).
As a team, App State leads the nation with 7.1 bpg and ranks in the top 10 in field goal percentage defense (38.2), defensive rebounds per game (30.9) and rebounds per game (42.7).
All-Time Series vs. Mountaineers
Texas State holds a slim 9-8 lead in the all-time series. Last season, the Mountaineers won 82-75 in Boone on Feb. 16, 2023. The Bobcats' last victory in the series was a 68-66 contest in Strahan Arena on Feb. 3, 2022. When playing in San Marcos, TXST is 6-2 all-time against App State.
