About Texas State
The Bobcats began the season with a 64-44 win over Eastern Michigan as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The 20-point margin of victory was the largest to open the season over a Division I opponent since a 27-point win against Green Bay in 1998. The 44 points allowed are the fewest allowed in a season opener since 1998, as well.

Kaden Gumbs led the team in scoring on Monday with 15 points. He was joined in double-figures by Dylan Dawon (10), Tyrel Morgan (11) and Tylan Pope (12). Drue Drinnon made his return to the court after missing last season with an injury and knocked down two three-pointers.

About McMurry
The War Hawks are coming off a 10-15 campaign and are a new member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference where they were picked to finish ninth in the 12-team league. Friday's contest will be an exhibition for them with their first official game being on Monday against Hardin-Simmons.

McMurry returns eight players led by TJ Hilliard, who averaged 9.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while making 54.1% of his shots. Matt Pena has made 197 career three-pointers at a 37.7% clip in his four years on the team.

Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 38-9, has won the last seven overall meetings and are 18-1 at home. The most recent contest was a 100-50 victory on Dec. 6, 2017 in San Marcos. It was the second straight game that the Bobcats had put up 100 or more points on the War Hawks after a 112-point effort on Dec. 30, 2008.

Last time TXST lost to McMurry was on Feb. 8, 1971 when the War Hawks claimed a 72-64 game in Abilene. Friday is just the third meeting between the programs since the Bobcats became an NCAA member.
