SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State will finish out its 2024 road slate for two matches against East Division foe Coastal Carolina this weekend. The matches are slated for Nov. 8 and 9 at 5 pm and 1 pm (CT).
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
About Texas State
The Bobcats enter the week with a 9-3 record in Sun Belt play coming off two wins over Southern Miss. Texas State is currently third in the West Division of the Sun Belt standings.
Wunsch leads the Bobcats this season with 296 kills, followed by freshman MJ McCurdy with 225. Those two lead the offense while
Alyssa Ortega and
Jade Defraeye handle the defense. Ortega is leading with 341 digs while Defraeye has 97.0 blocks.
Head coach
Sean Huiet is in his fifth year in charge of the program and boasts a 110-46 record in his career with a 62-12 record in Sun Belt play. Huiet recently won his 100
th career game over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Sept. 20.
About Coastal Carolina
Coastal Carolina comes into the week as the 5th seed in the East Division of the Sun Belt Standings with a 6-6 record in conference play and an 11-13 record this season. They come into the week on a three-game win streak with wins over Georgia Southern and the College of Charleston.
Leading the attack for the Chanticleers is Jalyn Stout who has 301 kills, and Agata Lesiak with 216. The attack is also set by Stout who has 435 assists this season. Their block is led by Dilara Unal with 87.0 blocks. Sydney Lewis leads with 305 digs.
Coastal Carolina is led by 2nd year head coach Steve Loeswick who has a 31-19 record in his time at the helm of the Chanticleers.
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 10-4. Texas State has won all four meetings between these two sides in Conway. Last season, Texas State split its series with Coastal 1-1 in Strahan Arena.
