Volleyball Returns Home for Dig Pink Weekend

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State returns home this weekend for two matches versus Arkansas State on Oct. 18 and 19. The Oct. 18 match will start at 6 pm, with the Oct. 19 match at 1 pm.
 
This match will be part of the Bobcats 'Dig Pink Weekend' where they will raise money for the Side Out Foundation. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the matches in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
 
About Texas State
The Bobcats enter the week with a 4-2 record in Sun Belt play coming off two losses to South Alabama. Texas State is currently second in the West Division of the Sun Belt standings. 
 
Wunsch leads the Bobcats this season with 213 kills, followed by freshman MJ McCurdy with 177. Those two lead the offense while Alyssa Ortega and Jade Defraeye handle the defense. Ortega is leading with 232 digs while Defraeye has 73.0 blocks. 
 
Head coach Sean Huiet is in his fifth year in charge of the program and boasts a 105-45 record in his career with a 59-11 record in Sun Belt play. Huiet recently won his 100th career game over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Sept. 20.
 
About Arkansas State
Arkansas State comes into Strahan Arena as the top seed in the West Division of the Sun Belt Standings with a 5-1 record in conference play and a 15-3 record this season. They are coming off two wins over ULM.
 
Leading the attack for the Red Wolves is Kaitlin Whitlock who has 209 kills, and Grace Wiley with 166. The attack is being set by Erin Madigan and Valeria Ortiz who have 401 and 322 assists on the season, respectively. Their block is led by Daedrianna Cail with 74.0 blocks. Sarah Martinez leads with 315 digs.

Arkansas State is led by 3rd year head coach Bryan Gerwig who has a 40-40 record in his time at the helm of the Red Wolves.
 
Series History
Texas State leads the all-time series 19-10. Texas State has won 10-straight matches dating back to 2019. Additionally, the Bobcats are 9-3 all-time in Strahan Arena against the Red Wolves.
