Bobcats and Warhawks Meet Saturday Afternoon

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The weekend on the road concludes for the Texas State men's basketball team (6-10, 0-4 Sun Belt) on Saturday afternoon against ULM (4-10, 0-4 Sun Belt). Tipoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. from inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

About Texas State
The Bobcats are looking to snap a five-game losing streak and a six-game Sun Belt Conference regular season winless streak. Thursday saw them come close with a late comeback attempt at Arkansas State. Trailing by as many as 12 in the second half, TXST was able to cut the deficit to one with just over 16 seconds left on the clock following Dylan Dawson's fourth made three-pointer of the game.
 
Jordan Mason continues to lead the Bobcats offensively at 12.8 points per game. He is second on the team with 40 assists and third with 14 steals. Brandon Love raised his scoring mark to 11.8 ppg over the past two contests in which he has combined to score 42 points on 20-of-25 shooting.
 
Also with a double-figure scoring mark is Coleton Benson. In six games off the bench, the sophomore is putting gup 10.5 ppg behind 14 made three-pointers at a 46.7% clip.
 
Kaden Gumbs enters Saturday dishing out a team best 4.1 assists per game, which ranks fifth in the conference. The freshman is also scoring 9.9 ppg and leads the Bobcats with 17 steals. Dawson comes in adding 9.8 ppg with a team-high 29 made three-pointers.
 
About ULM
Thursday saw the Warhawks fall at home to Southern Miss by a score of 71-58. It was their seventh consecutive loss with their last victory coming at home against Champion Christian back on Dec. 5. When playing at home, ULM is 3-4 with a 0-3 mark in Sun Belt action while their lone Division I victory was against Northwestern State.
 
Nika Metskhvarsihvili leads the team at 10.5 ppg and 10 blocks and is second with 5.9 rpg, 35 assists and 14 steals. Also putting up at least 10 points a contest is Tyreke Locure (10.1) behind a team-high 20 made threes. Savion Gallion sports a team best 46.9 FG%, 34.3 3FG% and 84.8 FT% while putting up 8.4 ppg.
 
All-Time Series vs. Warhawks
ULM holds a slim 32-21 advantage in the all-time series. Last season saw the Warhawks win both regular season meetings including a 61-58 contest in Monroe. Prior to last year, Texas State had won eight straight contests and 12 of the last 14 meetings in the series.
 
When taking on ULM on the road, the Bobcats are 11-19 with the last win being a 63-54 contest on Feb. 12, 2022.
