SAN MARCOS, Texas — Texas State volleyball closed the Jayhawk Classic with a loss to #20 Kansas in three sets.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bobcats had a strong showing in set one. Despite the Jayhawks ultimately taking the set, the Bobcats held in it the whole way. The team hit .211 through set one, highlighted by
Samantha Wunsch's four kills and hitting .500. The team combined for 13 kills and held within five points the entire set. The Jayhawks won set one 25-20.
Through set two Texas State continued to find ways to stay in the match. Despite going down early on in the set, the Bobcats rallied back to make it a four-point split. The Bobcats went on a run late in the set, but were unable to mount the comeback needed to take the set and dropped set two 25-17.
Set three the Bobcats fell out of rhythm. With the home side swinging .345, the Bobcats were unable to get their offense rolling. After going down 10-5, TXST struggled to find a way back into the match and ultimately the #20 program in the nation would take the set 25-12.
