SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the newest States Up podcast, Texas State softball's
Tori McCann shares her story of committing to Texas State, her injury that forced her to play first base in 2022, and her relationship with her brother who was a catcher at Texas.
From Round Rock, Texas, McCann is in her fourth season as a Bobcat after beginning her career with the pandemic-shortened season in 2020. The pitcher has helped lifted Texas State to a national ranking this year after going 4-2 in nine appearances (seven starts) so far and tallying 28 strikeouts against six walks.
McCann is coming off a 2022 season in which an injury forced her to move out of the circle and to first base – a position she had not played since her freshman year of high school. In the podcast, she discusses that injury, what she did to come back and still have a position to play on the team, how her friendships with teammates helped her through that process, and more about her journey to Texas State and what is next in her career as she is pursuing a master's of business administration.
