This Week at Texas State: February 27, 2023

Men's and women's basketball gears up for the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Florida. Softball and baseball travel for the first time this season, softball will compete at the Owl Classic in Florida and baseball will play five games over the next six days. Tennis will have their lone match of the week on Thursday against St. John's at home. Track and Field will be competing in Austin at the Longhorn Invitational. Men's golf heads west for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and women's golf will be in Houston for the ICON Invitational. Soccer continues their spring schedule at St. Edward's.

Baseball dropped its weekend series to Oral Roberts at home over the weekend. They move forward with a busy week as they will play five games over six days starting Tuesday at UIW, this will be there first time this season playing outside of Bobcat Ballpark, followed by a weekend series at Grand Canyon.

Men's basketball lost their final two games inside Strahan Arena of the regular season to South Alabama and Southern Miss. On senior day Mason Harrell led the team with 16 points against Southern Miss. The Bobcats enter the Sun Belt Conference tournament as the 11th seed and will face 14th seed Georgia State at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday on ESPN+

Men's golf will be competing at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate for the second year in a row. Kasper Nyland opened the Bobcats spring season with a second-place finish, his top finish of his collegiate-career shooting 10-under.

Softball is on a six-game win streak after maintaining a perfect 6-0 record against four teams, with two games going to extra innings at the TXST Classic. The Bobcats will travel for the first time this season as they head to Florida for the Owl Classic hosted by FAU. 
 
Track and Field

Track and Field closed out the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships with Daniel Harrold, Sedrickia Wynn, Dominick Yancy, and the men's 4x400 relay each winning individual conference championships. This Saturday the team heads to Austin for the Longhorn Invitational.

Women's basketball ended their regular season with two road wins and claimed a share of the Sun Belt regular season title for the first time in 15 years after beating Arkansas State in the regular season finale. Opening round games start on Tuesday, the Bobcats have a double-bye and will not play their first game until Friday, March 3 as the second seed against either Louisiana or App State.

Texas State women's golf travels to the ICON Invitational hosted by Houston for the fifth consecutive year. In their last outing, Texas State tied for seventh at The Show and Marine Griffaut recorded her second-best finish of the season when she tied for fifth. This will be the fifth season in a row that the Bobcats will be competing at the ICON Invitational. 
 
Women's Tennis

Tennis won their second straight match when Kiana Graham clinched the 4-3 win over Northwestern State on Sunday. The Bobcats will have its lone match of the week on Thursday, March 2 against St. John's. This will be the first meeting between the teams.
