Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas State women's basketball suffered its second loss of the season following a 60-52 game with the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi Islanders on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bobcats started the night out on a 6-0 run to go up early on the Islanders. At the first media timeout, Tullis already had six points on 3-4 shooting. After that, though, the Islanders went on a run. With four minutes to play in the quarter things were tied up at eight. At the end of the first quarter the Bobcats trailed in a close one, 16-12.
Through the second quarter, the Islanders started finding success from three-point range and were able to broaden the gap between the two sides. Headed into the halftime break TAMUCC held a 36-28 lead after shooting 4-5 from three.
Julia Coleman came alive in the second quarter, though, with six points and five rebounds in her six minutes of play.
Out of the half the Bobcats battled back to make it a one possession game. After outscoring the Islanders 11-4, highlighted by four points from
Timia Jefferson, the Bobcats brought the score back to 40-39 in the third. By the end of the quarter the Bobcats outscored the Islanders 16-14 but there was still work to be done in the fourth.
Through the fourth quarter neither side was able to get its groove as the Bobcats shot 3-15 and the Islanders 2-14. Despite

- After today's loss the Bobcats sit with a 3-2 record five games into the 2023-24 season.
- Ja'Niah Henson hit her 1000th career point against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi off a fourth-quarter three-pointer.
- Timia Jefferson has had four straight double-digit scoring nights in her first season of play as a Bobcat. She now sits at 956 career points after her first three seasons at Houston Christian.
- Henson had a career-high six steals against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, surpassing her previous five-steal game on Feb. 2, 2022 versus NC Central.
UP NEXT
The Bobcats will face I-35 rival UTSA on Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. on the road. Following that game, the Bobcats will return home to host UNT Dallas on Dec. 3.
