Louisiana Tech MTE Up Next for Bobcats

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State men's basketball team (2-2) is back on the road for two games in the Louisiana Tech MTE. First up will be McNeese (4-1) on Tuesday followed by a meeting with Southern Utah (1-2) on Wednesday.
 
Both games will tip off at 12 p.m. from inside the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston, Louisiana.
 
A video stream will not be available for either game. Fans can also catch the action on the Varsity Sports Network and follow along via live stats.
 
About Texas State
The Bobcats claimed a 10-point victory in their home opener over UTSA on Friday. Leading the way offensive was Christian Turner with a career-high 19 points. Brandon Love recorded his second double-double of the season with a career best tying 18 points and career-high 14 rebounds. The junior forward also blocked four shots to give him 13 on the season which leads the Sun Belt Conference and is tied for fourth in the nation.
 
For the season, Love paces the team with 12.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Also with a double-digit scoring average is Turner at 10.5. Joshua O'Garro is contributing 9.5 ppg and Kaden Gumbs comes into the week putting up 9.0 ppg and dishing out 3.5 assists per contest. Both Gumbs and O'Garro are grabbing 5.0 rpg as well.
 
About McNeese
The Cowboys are led by Shahada Wells at 18.2 ppg while shooting 53.0% from the field but had made 14-of-21 (66.7%) at the free throw line. The trio of Antavion Collum (10.6), DJ Richards, Jr. (11.8) and Christian Shumate (11.8) come in with double-digit scoring averages. Omar Cooper leads the squad in assists (16) and steals (12).
 
All-Time Series vs. Cowboys
McNeese leads the all-time series over Texas State 32-19. The Bobcats have won the last three meetings with the last being an 80-68 contest on Nov. 29, 2016 in San Marcos.
 
When facing each other at neutral sites, each team has won twice. The last neutral stie contest came on Mar. 10, 2011 with the Cowboys winning 91-83 in the Southland Conference Tournament semifinals in Katy, Texas.
 
About Southern Utah
Five players enter the week averaging at least 11 points a contest for the Thunderbirds. Pacing the team is Prophet Johnson at 16.3 ppg while shooting 51.5% from the field and making 82.4% of his charity stripe attempts. Right behind him is Domnique Ford at 15.7 ppg while dishing out a team-high 3.0 apg. Others with a double-digit scoring mark at Parsa Fallah (11.3), Braden Housley (12.7) and Zion Young (13.0).
 
All-Time Series vs. Thunderbirds
Texas State holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series against Southern Utah. Last season saw the Bobcats win 78-65 in the North Shore Classic in Laie, Hawaii led by Mason Harrell's 18 points.
 
Only other meetings came in the 1994-95 season when the teams played a home-and-home series. The Thunderbirds won the first game 83-49 in Cedar City, Utah and TXST claimed the game in San Marcos 64-62.
