The Bobcats will feature a pair of home women's basketball games this week – including an 11 a.m. matchup on Thursday – while the men's side will look to continue its winning ways on the road for two games. Texas State's indoor track and field team, meanwhile, will get its 2023 season started with the season-opening meeting in Lubbock.

The Bobcats are on the cusp of history: head coach Zenarae Antoine will become the program's all-time winningest coach with the team's next victory. And the Bobcats will have two opportunities for Antoine to pass former head coach Suzanne Fox this week, starting with the SMCISD Kids Day game on Thursday against Georgia State (8-9, 2-2 Sun Belt) and then against Arkansas State (5-10, 0-4 Sun Belt) on Saturday. Texas State splits its games last week and was led by Kennedy Taylor and Tianna Eaton, who both had double-digit scoring efforts in each contest.

After back-to-back losses to open the conference season, the Bobcats bounced back with consecutive victories on the road last week. The sudden change in the season has the defending conference champions back to .500 in conference play (2-2 record). Texas State will play at Arkansas State on Thursday to start its week before traveling to face ULM, a team that is off to a 3-1 start in Sun Belt action and beat Texas State in the teams' conference opener on Dec. 29.

Following runner-up conference finishes on both the men's and women's side last year during the indoor season, the Bobcats return to the track for the first of seven indoor meets this year before the Sun Belt Championships in late February. The Bobcats return 21 on the women's side and 10 on the men's side, but among those returners include last year's indoor Sun Belt champions Anayah Washington (women's long jump), Katherine Stuckly (women's high jump), and Dominick Yancy (men's 400 meters).
