States Up: Tianna Eaton

Senior guard joins after she has gotten out to her best start to a season

SAN MARCOS, Texas – In the newest States Up podcast, Texas State women's basketball Tianna Eaton joins to share about her resurgent season after rehabbing from injury, how a happenstance interaction with a basketball superstar kept her motivated, and being one of several kids in a large family involved in many sports.

Originally from Walnut, Calif., Eaton is averaging 11.0 points in 28 minutes this season and is one of two players to start all 14 games. The senior guard, who has helped the Bobcats open 10-4 on the season, is shooting 42.5 percent from the field while also grabbing 3.9 rebounds and dishing 1.5 assists. This is all a year after playing a key role off the bench last year.

In the podcast, Eaton discusses what her journey has been like since transferring to Texas State in 2020 and why she feels she is finally healthy following a knee injury suffered at her previous school. She also talks about how she got into basketball, her relationship with her softball-playing sister, and what it was like to meet the late Kobe Bryant a few months before he passed away.

The podcast can be heard on SpotifyApple, Amazon Music, and Google.
