The team will begin its three-game road stretch at Southern Miss (17-4, 6-2 Sun Belt) on Saturday. This will be the first time the teams have met since the Golden Eagles joined the Sun Belt. Texas State track and field has had a record-breaking start to its indoor season. In their second meet of the season last weekend, the Bobcats set or matched five school records at the Red Raider Open in Lubbock, which was more than double their records set at the previous meet. Sedrickia Wynn set the program record in the women's 60 meter and 60 meter hurdles as she now owns four of the top-five times ever run by a Bobcat in the 60 meter hurdles. On the men's side, Daniel Harrold ran 7.80 in the 60 meter hurdles to make him the fastest Bobcat in that event, and Bervensky Pierre ran 20.97 in the 200-meter dash to match Dominick Yancy for the school record. Yancy, the Sun Belt Athlete of the Week last week, claimed a school record in the 400 meter with a time of 46.48.
