SAN MARCOS, TX — Less than a week after its first home match of the new season, the Texas State volleyball program will, again, load up a bus and hit the roadway as the Bobcats will travel to Fort Worth to participate in this weekend's five-team Horned Frog Invitational hosted by TCU.

Texas State (6-3) begins play at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 16, when the Bobcats take on Abilene Christian (3-6) for the first time since 2018. The following day, Saturday, Sept. 17, Texas State will take on Alabama (5-4) at 1:30 p.m. CT, before closing out its three-match weekend against the host Horned Frogs (3-5) at 7 p.m. CT. 
 
Of the three matches, however, only Texas State's match against TCU will be available for streaming as the match can be viewed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. 
 
SERIES HISTORY

• Friday afternoon will mark the 14th all-time meeting between the Abilene Christian and Texas State volleyball programs and first since Sept. 1, 2018. 
• Texas State has never lost to Abilene Christian as the Bobcats sport a 13-0 record with the Wildcats having won only five of a possible 28 sets. 
• Of the 13 matchups between the Bobcats and Wildcats, 10 have come on a neutral court. Friday afternoon's match, however, will mark the first neutral-site match since Oct. 1, 1983. 
• Under third-year head coach Sean Huiet, Texas State is 1-0 against Alabama after winning a four-set match (25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22) over the Crimson Tide on Sept. 10, 2021, inside Strahan Arena. 
• Last season's win gave Texas State a 3-2 advantage over Alabama in the all-time series with the Crimson Tide's only wins coming on Sept. 11, 2010, and Aug. 27, 2011. 
• Saturday afternoon's matchup will mark the first-ever neutral-site match between Texas State and Alabama. 
• Texas State will travel to Fort Worth with a 7-4 record against TCU in a series history that dates back to Oct. 15, 1996. The Bobcats are 1-1 against the Horned Frogs in matches played in Fort Worth. 

• Saturday night's match will mark the first time the two programs have met on a volleyball court since playing in the spring of 2021, when the Bobcats and Horned Frogs split two matches. 

THE RECORD SETTING … SETTER

• With an extra year of eligibility, Texas State setter Emily DeWalt is capitalizing on the opportunity and quickly climbing the Sun Belt's career assist list. DeWalt, in her fifth season as a Bobcat, will enter this weekend's Horned Frog Invitational with 5,116 career assists.

THE OUTSIDE'S RECORD SETTING CHASE

• On the receiving end of a lot of Emily DeWalt's sets is Janell Fitzgerald, who will enter this weekend's action on the verge of becoming just the third student-athlete in program history to surpass 1,500 career kills. The outside hitter currently sits at 1,490 following a strong performance throughout last weekend's Bobcat Invitational.
