Men’s Golf Trio Earn Srixon/Cleveland All-America Scholar Honors

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Clayton King, Kasper Nyland and Fabian Sunden earned 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honors, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced.
 
440 NCAA Division I athletes from 157 schools earned All-America Scholar honors. 
 
Sunden, the conference newcomer of the year last season, recorded three top-10 finishes, which includes his tie for fourth when the Bobcats claimed first place at the Jackrabbit Invitational. Nyland had the best finish among the trio at the Sun Belt Conference Championship, and was the conference freshman of the year during the 2020-21 season. King finished in the top-15 at the Jackrabbit Invitational, his best of the season. 
 
Men's golf had its highest spring GPA on record in the spring 2022 semester.
 
The team also won the Emmett Shelton Award, which is given to top team GPAs among men's and women's programs at Texas State. Men's golf had a team GPA of 3.34 in the 2021 calendar year (spring 2021 semester and fall 2021 semester). 
 
To be eligible, men's collegiate golfers (Division I-III, NAIA, NJCAA) must be a sophomore, junior or senior that participated in 50 percent of the team's competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 76.0 at the Division I level, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.
